Wesley Hills is a village in the Town of Ramapo, Rockland County, New York, United States located north of Viola; east of Harriman State Park; south of Pomona and west of New Hempstead. Joseph Berger of The New York Times said in a 1997 article that Wesley Hills was one of several Town of Ramapo villages formed by non-Jewish people and more secular Jewish people “to preserve the sparse Better Homes and Garden [sic] ambiance that attracted them to Rockland County.”[3] A decade after the New York Times 1997 article, Wesley Hills retains it’s upscale, upstate, “foothills of the mountains” ambiance but has integrated itself seamlessly with Monsey NY, its predominantly Orthodox Jewish neighbor on its northern border. While no official count is available, about a third of this community attends one of the half dozen traditional Jewish synagogues in the area.
